"Kansas City Here We Come!"

Welcome to Missouri, the "Show Me" State. On behalf of the entire "Show Me" Board, we welcome you to the 67th National Square Dance Convention. The "Show Me" Board has been busy preparing for your arrival, and we know you will like what we have to offer.

Take a heaping helping of our Midwest hospitability, and enjoy our Convention and all the sights and sounds that Kansas City has to offer. Planning for a National Convention is a monumental task. It requires many dedicated dancers from a wide area. Even though our Convention is held in Kansas City, Missouri, our Board is comprised of dancers from all across Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Illinois. We extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one on every committee that has had a part in putting together a great Convention. Even though it has been a tremendous amount of time and effort, it has been our pleasure seeing everyone's ideas turn into activities for the dancing community to enjoy.

The Kansas City Convention Center is a fantastic facility. You will find plenty of room to enjoy the Convention, and we hope you won't miss those long leisurely walks between dance halls too much. We have covered all carpeted dance halls with quality wood flooring for your dancing comfort. If you need a partner, look for the Solo Meet & Greet each day and look for the Solo signs in each dance hall. Your favorite callers and cuers plus the Ghost Riders Band will keep the 12 dance halls fun and lively; and yes, there will be ice cream when you want to take a break. If you don't use our food court, you only have 45 restaurants to choose from within a five block walk.

Be adventuresome and take the opportunities to learn something new, whether from the clinics, the workshops, the education sessions, or the Sew & Save rooms. Looking for ideas to take home to improve your club, recruit new dancers, or improve your dancing knowledge? Then check out the Leadership Certification Program (LCP) at the education office. Learn more about what Kansas City has to offer with the city tour. Kansas City is also rich in history with our tours varying from President Truman, to Jessie James, the Civil War, fountains, jazz, and barbeque just to name a few. Please consider joining in on the fun of the Flash Mob Tour as well. Weather permitting, one of our after parties will be held outdoors in the Barney Allis Plaza.

It has been our pleasure to serve as the General Chairman of the 67th National Square Dance Convention. We would like to thank The Missouri Federation of Square 'n Round Dance Clubs for having the faith in us to propose us as the General Chairman. We heartily thank our advisors from the NEC, Karen Fleher and Ron and Cindy Schoen, for all their support and guidance. We would also like to thank every dancer everywhere who has welcomed and helped us as we have traveled around the states promoting the 67th NSDC. The many new friends we made, the interesting sites we visited, and the opportunity to circle around the square with new dancers, new friends, and old friends have been some of the highlights of being the General Chairman.

We can't wait to see you all in Kansas City and to extend our Midwest hospitability!

Carl and Cindy Boone, General Chairman
67th National Square Dance Convention
