We would like to introduce Judy Tumbleson, the 67th NSDC Education Chairman.
Judy is a native Kansan from a small rural town where she grew up on a dairy farm. She taught special education students and mentored student teachers in Oregon for many years and retired in 2008. She started square dance lessons the next year while still living in Oregon. Shortly, thereafter, she moved back to Kansas bringing her closer to family and her grass roots.
She quickly became involved in the square dance world where she was involved in two small clubs merging to form a new vibrant club in 2013. Judy also serves as the Chairman of the Northeast Kansas Square Dance district which includes approximately 20 clubs.
The education classrooms are located across from the registration tables. We are excited that all of the classrooms are on one level and in close proximity to each other.
We are delighted to announce that Buddy Weaver will be our Keynote Speaker! Make plans to attend his session,
"How to Recruit and Retain New Dancers." Buddy has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with us, so you won't want to miss this opportunity.
Our Round Table discussion will involve leaders from several major organizations such as the ARTS group, CALLERLAB, Roundalab, and the United Square Dancers of America (USDA). The topic of discussion will focus on
"The Secret is Retaining Dancers."
If you are a history buff, you won't want to miss the
"Visiting with the Legends" session. Callers and long-time dance leaders will remind us of yesteryears in our activity sprinkled with interesting facts and humor.
Various clinics are being planned for you to explore the world of Round Dancing, Hex Squares, Contra, and Dance by Definition (DBD). Make sure you leave time in your schedule to try something new during the 67th NSDC in Kansas City, Missouri.
We are so excited to welcome you to our city!
